While participating in the Trading and Breeding forums, there are several rules and guidelines to keep in mind. Also remember, all prior forum rules do apply. Do your best to follow them, and hopefully everything will go smoothly here.

1.Make Sure All Terms Of Trades And Topics Are Clearly Labeled.

Since all trades happen outside of the forums, there is very little control that we have over making sure they all are performed without any complications. If a trade goes sour, or someone claims that you promised one thing and then traded another, there is little we can do if it is nothing but your word against theirs. To avoid this, make sure you are specific in your post on what you are looking for in the trade. Do not just say “Trading Shinies for an EV Trained Legendaries.” Label clearly and list what you are offering and what you are searching for. For Example:" Looking for an EV Trained Terrakion with Close Combat. Offering level 20 shiny Golbat and level 36 Shiny Charizard.” Also, anything you two discuss outside of the forum is out of our control, such as a change in the deal. So for any proof needed, be sure to post the exact terms of the trade in your topic before completing it as to avoid these complications and allow us to solve any issues.

This also pertains to the legitimacy of a Pokémon in a trade. If you only want a legit Pokémon, specify this in your thread. If you prefer either or, make this known. But under no circumstance, are you allowed to knowingly agree to trade a hacked Pokémon for a legit one, and not inform the other person of this beforehand, especially in a legit Pokémon only thread.

2. Hacked Pokémon Are Not Against The Rules

Although hacking takes a lot of the fun out of the work needed to obtain the Pokémon, it is not breaking any rules to offer up a Pokémon that is created from PokéSav, Action Replay,fan-run events, or by any other method. However, under no means does this mean you are permitted to lie about the legitimacy of the Pokémon. If you are trading a hacked Pokémon, make sure you clearly state this before your trade.

This also means members of the site should be aware of the potential of obtaining a hacked Pokémon. There are few ways to tell a hacked Pokémon from a legitimate one, so you must give the final verdict during your trade on whether you want to complete it or not. If you are against hacked Pokémon, that is fine, but do not go onto other people’s topic and insult them. You can choose to trade with them or not, that is your choice.

3. Do Not Attempt To Scam Other Members

I know that most people here are good-natured, and probably wouldn’t think of cheating someone else in a trade, but there are always those few people who try to rip people off or take advantage of others. Although Pokémon Academy does not condone these actions in any way at all, we do not have any ability to rectify these problems or replace any lost items or Pokémon from a scam. All we can do is find this person, ask them to rectify the problem they caused, and warn others of their actions to prevent it in the future.

There are a few ways to avoid being on the receiving end of a scam. The first way is to always confirm the Pokémon being used in the trade is the one desired. Remember, you always have the ability to see the Pokémon you are trading for before the trade commences or completes. Also, be careful with the following deals

•Multiple Pokemon Trading.
(ex. "I'll trade my Shiny Reshiram for your EV Trained Tyranitar, Gyarados, Electivire, and Wobbuffet.")

In these trades, it requires a certain amount of trust between the participants to make sure neither player gets the short end of the trade and disconnects before both players have what they agreed upon. If necessary, try to trade the subject pokemon (Shiny Reshiram in this case) somewhere in the middle of the trade, so that both participants have some level of trust with each other. Still, it is generally better off to avoid these deals.

• PokéDex Credit
(ex. "Can I borrow your Celebi so I can have it on my Pokedex?")

Again, avoid doing these if you don't want to get scammed. You are giving the person you are trading with a perfect opportunity to get a free Pokemon, because that is exactly what you are giving them. Do this kind of trade only with people that you trust. Or if you feel very obligated to do it, try and get some form of decent collateral in return, so if they do run off with your Pokemon, you at least have something out of it.

• Egg Trading
(ex. "This Egg has a Sneasel with Ice Punch and Pursuit in it! Want it?")

There is no way to tell what is inside of an egg while you are trading. There could be a Sneasel with Ice Punch and Pursuit in that egg, or there could be a Magikarp in there. It could be anything. Try avoid trading for eggs that are promised to contain something inside. Have the person hatch the egg first, if they will agree to it, or since the legit kind of Egg Traders make a lot of eggs, make sure that there were no complaints about the kind of egg in the topic. And sometimes, the breeder might get their eggs up accidentally, so if that Sneasel egg hatches into a Buneary with Switcheroo instead, PM them about it and they will probably take it back and give you the correct egg.

Anyone who is caught scamming other members on purpose will have their name and Pokémon information added to a blacklist to prevent other members from falling prey to their actions.

4. Do Not Post Numerous Threads Looking For A Trade

It may take some time for someone to acknowledge your thread or have the Pokémon or item you are looking for. However, creating multiple threads of the same category to get more people to see your topic will not be allowed. You must wait at least 48 hours after creating the original thread before trying to bump it, and one full week before trying to repost it. Any violation of this rule will result in a locking of your thread, and a warning, followed by more severe punishment on repeat offences.

5. Do Not Attempt To Hijack Another Person’s Thread

If the original poster says they are looking for a shiny starter Pokémon and make a trade offer, and another member responds listing the shiny starters they have, do not post in their topic trying to trade with the replier for their shiny starter. If you have a trade you are looking for, try to create your own thread for it, not steal someone else’s. If you must contact that person because you are not able to create a new thread yourself, Private Message them instead.

6. Do Not Harass Other Players To Trade With You

If a player decides that they do not want to participate in a trade with you, that is their decision. It can be at the start of the thread, or it can be in the middle of discussing the trade. No matter how far along the negotiating has gone, a player has the right to refuse to participate in the trade at any time. If this happens, do not harass, spam, or constantly message them to trade with you. However, if the trade was in process and either player disconnects, you may message them to try and redo the trade and message them to fix the problem. This is not an excuse though for players to disconnect during a multiple Pokémon trade, before completing the agreed arrangement, and claim harassment when a player wants to rectify the problem.

7. Do Not Attempt To Trade Any Non Pokémon Game Items

This section is for trading Pokémon and items found within Pokémon Games Only. You are not allowed to attempt trading for items from other games, real money, or anything other than things obtainable in a Pokémon game.

Other than the rules above, try to be friendly with each other and respect your fellow members.

If you have any questions regarding the rules, or have a dispute that the rules do not cover, feel free to contact me.
